This term is one I admittedly overuse (at work, in my personal life and sometimes it can run on an infinite loop in my head).
It’s one of those terms I say jokingly, while feeling hopeful that someone will look into an issue.
But, something I have averted my eyes to recently is social media, the news and everything else that packages feelings or opinions as fact.
I don’t miss it.
The fog of everyone else’s blathering (aka verbal vomit) affected me more than I realized. That is not said lightly, but with a newly discovered reality that social media had the ability to so powerfully upset me. Why would I get emotional about a post?
More importantly, why was I participating in something that (even though there were positives) seemed akin to picking a fight or bullying…whether engaging or not?
This is the thing- I’m a pretty level-headed, common sense kinda woman and had no idea this had gotten to me to the point where my thoughts were overtaken to this degree.
I’ve had a lot of people tell me that social media doesn’t effect them, but how would they know? They’re always on it.
It’s only by averting my eyes that I have been able to clearly see what’s important again. It feels good- worries seem lighter- there’s a serenity that’s been recaptured.
Find your peace.
“For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”- John 16:33
