I fully intended to write a snarky PSA on “Blinkers- How Drivers Should Use Them.” It would have explained their intended use, where they’re located, and all other manner of highly sarcastic fare.
My fingers were poised to type, while my mind generated outlandish repartee.
Suddenly, a bird sang outside my window.
Not the normal chirping I hear that blends into the background noise of suburban life, but a determined song of joy. Loud. In your face.
It almost made me weep.
I can’t remember the last time joy overflowed and sounds of any kind reverberated from me that described such a feeling.
I desire those moments to return to me. To feel so joyful that I can’t contain my excitement. A place where the concerns of life don’t drag me down or leave negative residue.
Just for a minute. Let me remember.
I have faith it’s merely misplaced. I only need to find my way back to it because it must exist. I heard it outside my window.
I don’t know how long I’ve traveled in the opposite direction or if a map is required to return. Sadly, people I love or once loved have had a hand in its departure.
Turning around is a start…facing the right direction.
It can’t be seen. It may be too far or unattainable, but I must try. I know it still exists.
I heard it outside my window…
Love you, friends!! Have a wonderful weekend!! ❤
